iCow Soko, a new feature on iCow, only 8 days from release successfully enables farmers trade livestock across the mobile platform. A farmer in Bomet posted his friesian cow for sale on iCow and was found by a buyer in Kericho, who paid him  a tidy sum, 25% above local market price.

Bridging the distances in a cost effective, timely and efficient manner, iCow enables another farmer in Mombasa start his dairy goat herd with a selection of goats from across the country. The goats he has booked in Nairobi and Naivasha (by making a money deposit over Mpesa,) will be transported to the coast at the end of Ramadhan. Driven by farmer demand, iCow Soko originally enabled trading of a variety of livestock across the platform including chickens, goats and sheep. The market place has since scaled beyond livestock and includes trees, (fodder, timber, fruit trees) as well as by products like goat milk, a commodity being requested by mainstream consumers in Nairobi. iCow Soko enables consumers purchase their livestock and livestock by products directly from their producers, enabling a healthier agri ecosystem all round.
